Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. –
Goose Andrews scored a goal in double overtime to lead the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Southern Wesleyan this evening. The victory puts The Abbey at 7-7-1 on the season, with a 7-3-1 Conference Carolinas record. SWU dips to 2-12-1 overall, with a 2-9-0 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Corrine Shovlain needed less than two minutes to take the first shot of the contest. The Abbey took 12 shots in the half, to the Warriors' four. The teams were scoreless at halftime
- The second half was a defensive battle, as neither team got a shot off in the first 12 minutes
- The Crusader defense limited SWU to just one shot the entire half. The offense, however, did not score, and the teams went into overtime
- In the first overtime, it was Sabrina Whitehouse who took the lone shot for The Abbey, who did not give up a goal, thus forcing double overtime
- It took Andrews less than five minutes into the second overtime to find the back of the net for the Crusader victory
- Andrews' five shot were tied for the game-high
- Lauryn Harding made six saves in goal

Belmont Abbey will wrap up its regular season with a home match on Saturday, October 30 against UNC Pembroke. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
