BELMONT, N.C. –
Davis McBee scored in double overtime to give the Belmont Abbey men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Shaw on Senior Day. The victory puts The Abbey at 4-9-2 on the season. Shaw is now 3-9-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Abbey offense got it going midway through the first half, taking four shots in a 12-minute span. The teams were tied at zero at halftime
- In the second half, the Crusader offense heated up, taking nine shots in the period
- The defense was also very strong, giving up just one Bears shot. The offense, however, was unable to score, and the teams went into overtime
- In the overtime period, the Crusader offense came out hot early, taking a free kick and two shots in the opening three minutes
- The defense held Shaw to just two shots in the period, but neither team scored, and the game went into double overtime
- McBee took the first three Crusader shots of the second overtime, the last of which found the back of the net for the 1-0 Abbey victory
- As a unit, Belmont Abbey outshot Shaw 19-7

Belmont Abbey will wrap up its regular season with a visit to Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday, October 27. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
