Box Score BELMONT, N.C. - Hallvard scored the lone goal of the match for Belmont Abbey, who tied Converse 1-1 this afternoon. The Crusaders now stand at 3-9-2 on the year, including a 2-6-2 Conference Carolinas record. Converse is now 6-7-2 overall, and 2-5-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey had possession of the ball early and often, with seven throw-in's in the game's first seven minutes. Boehn took the first shot of the game for the Crusaders, in the 20th minute
- Converse scored a goal in the ninth minute, but the Crusader defense stepped up from there, giving up just five shots the rest of the half
- In the final minute of the half, Boehn found the back of the net off a pass from Sander Herlofsen to tie the match at one at halftime.
- Belmont Abbey outshot Converse 7-6 in the opening half
- BAC came out firing in the second, taking each of the half's first nine shots. Also, the defense did not give up a shot in the first 35 minutes of the half
- The defense was able to hold off a couple of Converse shots near the end of the half, as the teams went into overtime
- Zion Duncan took the first Crusader shot of the overtime period off a throw in, to keep the pressure on the Valkyries
- A shot by Davis McBee off a free kick in the final minute of overtime bounced off the crossbar to send the teams into double overtime
- In the 2OT period, it was again McBee giving the Crusaders a late charge, but just missed the net, for the 1-1 draw
- On the day, Belmont Abbey outshot Converse 20-13, and took 15 corner kicks, to the Valkyries' five
- Ben Knust made four saves in goal
