Andrew Kohut tallied a career-high 20 kills and freshman
Matteo Miselli added 12, leading Belmont Abbey to a 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 25-20) win over Limestone in men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon. The match was the season-opener for the Crusaders, while Limestone falls to 0-2.
The Crusaders hit .299 as a team, while limiting the Saints to .228.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kohut also tied his career best with 10 digs and added three block assists. He hit .378 (20-6-37).
- Brennan Davis dished out 40 assists with one kill and five digs.
- Libero Matthew Maxwell chipped in nine digs.
- Belmont Abbey hit .423 in the opening set and .480 in the clincher.
- In the first set, the Crusaders broke a 16-16 tie with back-to-back points to start a 4-0 run. The Saints closed to within 23-22, but a Kohut kill and a Limestone error ended the set.
- The Abbey never trailed in the second set after scoring five straight points after 1-1 and 2-2 ties. The biggest margin was seven points at 17-10.
- After dropping the third set, the Crusaders rallied from an 11-6 deficit in the fourth. They later trailed 19-15 but scored eight in row with Miselli serving to snag the victory.
