FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. --
LJ McCoy led a trio of Crusaders in double figures with 12 points, but Belmont Abbey fell just short with a 67-65 setback in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
The result gave the teams of a split of four games in the last 16 days, with the home team taking each win. Today's game and one played Thursday in Belmont were league games, while the two on January 8 and 11 were counted as non-conference affairs.
Belmont Abbey saw a five-game winning streak snapped in dropping to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play, while the Lions are now 4-4, 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nate Davis topped double figures for the first time this season with 11 points, while Quest Aldridge added 10 points. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.
- Belmont Abbey outshot the hosts 45.3 percent to 38.3 percent. The difference came from behind the arc where the Lions made four more threes.
- The Crusaders were outrebounded for just the second time in eight games this season, 34-27.
- The Abbey trailed by eight, 60-52, with 4:03 left, but closed to within a single point twice in the remaining time. Emmanuel made seven of its eight free throws in the final 100 seconds to preserve the win.
