Kuhlman Scores 14 Against Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Maria Kuhlman scored 14 points, but the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team lost a 75-67 decision at Lander this afternoon.  Lander was ranked #13 in the nation.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Brittany Autry got off to a hot start, scoring six points in the opening 2:35 of the contest.  A layup by Taylor Stelley with 6:15 in the period put The Abbey in front
    11-0.  BAC held a 18-10 advantage when the quarter expired
  • Kelli Thomas scored four in the second quarter for the Crusaders, though the Bearcats led 36-34 at halftime
  • The third was very back and forth, with Autry scoring four points in the first three minutes
  • The stubborn Crusader defense held Lander to one field goal over a span of 5:10 to take a 45-43 lead.  Lander led 53-49 heading into the final quarter
  • BAC started the fourth on a 5-0 run, and held a 61-57 lead with 6:55 to play
  • From there, the Bearcats were able to finish off the 75-67 win
  • Autry finished the day with 15 points and six rebounds.  Kuhlman scored 14 and pulled down eight boards
  • Keyanna Spivey's nine rebounds tied for the game-high.  while Stelley handed out a game-high eight assists
