Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Five Belmont Abbey players scored in double figures, but the top-seeded Crusaders lost a 74-69 contest to #4-seed Limestone in a Conference Carolinas semifinal matchup. Belmont Abbey is now 27-3 on the season, and waits to see if it will reach the NCAA Tournament.
How it Happened
- It only took Keyanna Spivey seven seconds into the game to get The Abbey on the board. The Crusaders trailed 17-14 after the first quarter
- Brittany Autry scored four straight Crusader points early in the second, keeping The Abbey within four at 26-22
- Late in the half, Belmont Abbey went on a 12-2 run to tie the game at 34 at halftime
- The teams went back and forth in the third, with neither team able to build a lead bgger than five. Autry and Allie Downing each scored six points in the period, and BAC held a 53-50 lead heading into the final period
- A quick 5-0 run early in the fourth put the Crusaders on top 58-50. Defensively, The Abbey held Limestone to just one field goal over the first three minutes of the period
- In the end, the Saints took the contest 74-69
- Spivey finished the day with 13 points and eight rebounds to lead The Abbey
- Downing scored 13 points and pulled down five boards. Autry scored 11 and grabbed seven rebounds
- Spivey was later named to the 2020 All-Tournament Team, finishing the tournament with 19 points and 14 rebounds
