Box Score BELMONT, N.C. - Alexis Schulz led a quartet of Belmont Abbey players who reached double figures in tonight's 85-65 victory over North Greenville. The win puts The Abbey at 21-2, with a 16-1 Conference Carolinas record. North Greenville is now 11-11 on the season, and 9-9 in conference play. The win also clinches an Abbey home game in the Conference Carolinas quarterfinal round.
How it Happened
- A 3-pointer by Maria Kuhlman put The Abbey in front 7-5, and they never looked back from there. She scored six points in the period, and BAC led 23-15 when the quarter expired
- Alexis Schulz scored the first for Abbey points in the second
- A three-minute scoreless drought for NGU put Belmont Abbey in front 31-23. BAC led 46-33 at halftime
- Kuhlman only needed 1:08 into the third to score six points and give The Abbey a commanding lead
- Belmont Abbey did not give up an NGU point for the first three and a half minutes of the period
- A layup by Taylor Stelley at the 2:57 mark put Belmont Abbey in front by 20 points. The Abbey held a 70-50 lead heading into the final period
- In the fourth, the BAC defense was again outstanding, not giving up an NGU field goal for the first six minutes of the period. Schulz went 3-for-4 for seven points in the quarter to help BAC finish off the 85-65 victory
- Allie Downing finished the night with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists
- Schulz went 7-for-11 from the field, for 16 points. Kuhlman scored 15, while Hannah Roney handed out a game-high five assists
