GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Morgan Smith registered four hits, including a home run and double, highlighting Belmont Abbey's day at the Bearcat/Fleet Invitational hosted by Lander. The Crusaders dropped the opener 7-5 to Tusculum before falling to Young Harris 5-0.

GAME ONE

• Smith went 3-for-4 with a double and home run. She drove in three and scored once.
• Melissa Neyhouse and Payton Whitley had a pair of hits, while Katie Allison, Cameron Cooper and Brianna Embler contributed to the 10-hit attack.
• Starter Annabeth Watkins (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs in two-plus innings. Delilah Malczewski (1-0) earned the win in relief.
• Tusculum jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings before the Crusaders tried to rally. They scored two in the third on an RBI double by Whitley and an RBI single by Smith.
• The margin closed to 5-3 on an RBI single by Embler in the fourth, but the Pioneers answered with runs in the fourth and sixth.
• Morgan's first home run with Whitley aboard in the seventh made the final 7-5.

GAME TWO

• Smith and Whitley continued their success at the plate, each recording hits.
• Claire Doyle earned the Crusaders only other hit.
• Jordanna Shorts (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs over 3.2 innings.
• Young Harris (7-0) scored two in the first, then adding single tallies in the fourth, fifth and sixth.
