Four Crusaders Reach Double Figures in Win at Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Hannah Roney and three other Crusaders scored in double figures as the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team won 76-63 at Limestone this evening.  The win puts The Abbey at 12-2 on the season, including a 7-1 Conference Carolinas mark.  The Saints dipped to 11-5 overall, and 6-4 in conference play.

How it Happened

  • The first quarter was back and forth, with Belmont Abbey leading by as many as five.  Six Crusaders scored in the quarter, though Limestone led 17-15 at the end of the period
  • The Saints led early in the second, but The Abbey did not trail by more than five points in the period.  Belmont Abbey went on an 8-2 run to end the quarter, and held a 37-35 lead at halftime
  • The third quarter was all Abbey.  The Crusaders opened the quarter on a 7-2 run to take a 44-37 lead
  • Keyanna Spivey scored seven points in the period, while the Crusaders as a unit held the Saints to just nine points in the quarter, and held a strong 57-44 lead heading into the final period
  • The Crusaders expanded the lead to 63-46 by starting the fourth off with on a 6-2 run
  • Limestone made a push late in the period, but it was not enough, as the Crusaders held on for the 76-63 victory
  • Hannah Roney scored a game-high 18 points and dished out three assists
  • Spivey finished with 17 points and six rebounds.  Maria Kuhlman added 14 points and five boards, while Brittany Autry contributed 10 points with six rebounds
