Box Score BELMONT, N.C. - Keyanna Spivey earned her first double-double tonight against Erskine College, as she helped the Crusaders to a 75-59 victory over the Flying Fleet. With the win, The Abbey moves to 8-5 on the season, with a 5-1 record against Conference Carolinas opponents. Erskine is now 2-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
How it Happened
- The Crusaders jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the game. Defensively, the Crusaders only gave up one field goal in the last three minutes, to hold a 17-12 advantage at the end of the period
- In the second, Brittany Autry scored five points in a 1:14 span, giving Belmont Abbey a 26-22 lead. Then Allie Downing scored four points in the last two minutes in the half, helping the Crusaders end the period on a 7-1 run, and take a 38-29 advantage into halftime. By halftime, Downing had registered 13 points
- Hannah Roney only needed 1:45 into the third to score five quick points for The Abbey, who took a commanding 45-29 lead. Then the Crusaders only gave up one Erskine field goal in the last 4:11 of the quarter, to take a 59-44 lead heading into the final period
- In the middle of the fourth, Manuela Fungate scored five points and got a steal in a span of 1:55
- The Crusaders made their free throws down the stretch, made a 7-0 run, and finished the contest with a 75-59 victory
- Spivey led Crusaders with 12 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Downing scored 17 points and pulled down eight boards. As a unit, the Crusaders shot 51.9% from the field, while the Flying Fleet only shot 31.7%
