Box Score BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team tied Southern Wesleyan in front of the homecoming crowd at Alumni Field. The Crusaders (3-4-1, 3-1-1) benefitted from Mark Trompeter's second goal of the season.
How It Happened
- Mark Trompeter broke the scoring open in the 79th minute, finding the back of the net as he moved across the goal.
- Southern Wesleyan's Oscar Vanegas scored 24 seconds later as he took a pass from Miguel Gallegos and bounced it off the crossbar into the net.
- The Crusaders outshot the Warriors 24-11 with four shots in the two overtime periods.
- Abbey keeper Ben Knust recorded five saves on the afternoon.
- SWU keeper Miguel Uribe managed 10 saves.
The Crusaders will play Shaw Monday, October 1 at Alumni Field.
