WILSON, N.C. - Sophomore George Barfoot won his sixth straight singles match as The Abbey defeated Barton College 5-4 this afternoon. The win moves the Crusaders to 14-18 overall this season, and 7-2 in Conference Carolinas play. Barton, ranked #10 in the Southeast Region, is now 4-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
Barfoot and James Delaney got the 8-4 win at #1 doubles for The Abbey, moving them to 13-6 on the season and 6-3 in conference play together.
Belmont Abbey then took each of the first four singles matches, highlighted by a 6-2, 7-5 win by Zachary Blythe at #2. Jose Disotuar, with the win at #4, clinched the match for the Crusaders.
Belmont Abbey will play its final conference match of the regular season at Limestone on Saturday, April 14, at 3 p.m.
