Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. - Morgan Patton scored in the 71st minute and the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team defeated Erskine College 2-0 this evening, moving the team's record this year to 9-1 overall, and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas play. The Flying Fleet are now 4-5-1, including 3-2-1 in conference play.
How it Happened
- The first half was a defensive battle, with The Abbey's defense giving up just one shot in the period. The match was scoreless at halftime
- Roughly 10 minutes into the second, the Crusaders went up 1-0 when Erskine kicked the ball into its own goal
- In the 71st minute, Patton found the back of the net off a pass from Kathryn Laughlin, who is now tied her for the team's lead in assists
- Lauryn Harding made four saves in goal, and improved to 2-0 on the year
