Men's Soccer Cruise to 4-1 Victory Over Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team recorded their second Conference Carolinas win of the season, defeating Mount Olive 4-1 Wednesday. The Crusaders notched four goals for the fourth time in the 2017 season, improving to 5-1. Mount Olive falls to 4-3 with a 1-2 conference record.

Geinner Duque opened the scoring in the 15th minute netting a pass from Steven Pate and Juan Villa. George Espina added to The Abbey's lead, taking a pass from Grant Retamar from the top of the box. The Crusaders took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

Belmont Abbey continued their impressive offensive performance as Julien Armaroli scored his second goal of the season just eight minutes into the second half.

Nando Morales added some insurance in the 83rd minute beating the keeper one-on-one for his second goal of the year. Mount Olive's Grant Conybean put the Trojans on the board in the 85th minute.

The offensive heavy contest saw the Crusader out-shoot the Trojans 22-17 with Abbey keeper Wes Holifield recording five saves and Trojan keeper Preston Snyder, saving six.

The Crusader will host Barton Saturday at 3 p.m. during Homecoming weekend.
