Men's Tennis Posts 9-0 Shutout Over Southern Wesleyan In Home Finale

The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team posted an easy 9-0 shutout win over the visiting Southern Wesleyan Warriors this afternoon in the final home match of the season. The Crusaders improve to 9-14 overall and 3-6 in Conference Carolinas.

Belmont Abbey has one more match remaining, a key road contest at Lees-McRae on Monday that will determine the fate of Conference Carolinas Tournament hopes.

Today, the Crusaders won four of five singles matches in straight sets, won another by forfeit and posted a three set victory by Damien Nelson at number five.

Senior Conner McMann, playing for the final time at home, scored an easy 6-4, 6-1 victory at the top flight. That was followed by wins from Juan Baez (6-4, 6-2), James Delaney (6-1, 6-0), Nikhil Reddy Amaresh (6-0, 6-4) and Nelson (6-4, 3-6, 10-6). Southern Wesleyan forfeited number six singles.

McMann and Baez scored an 8-6 doubles victory at number one, followed by Reddy and Delaney earning an 8-2 victory at number two. Southern Wesleyan did not field a third doubles team.
