Women's Volleyball Drops Four Setter At King, 3-1

The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team lost three straight sets after claiming a 25-22 opening set win over King as the Tornado posted a 3-1 home Conference Carolinas victory this evening in Bristol. Scores were 22-25, 25-23, 25-23 and 25-19. King improves to 13-11 overall and 7-4 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey drops to 13-9 overall and 7-4 in league play.

Belmont Abbey hit .211 as senior Hannah Schellenberg led the way with 20 kills. Aimee Cloninger added 14 and Caitlin Hankins contributed 11.  Hankins hit .375 as she recorded those 11 kills on 24 attacks with two errors. Gabby Martinez handed out 46 assists and finished with 12 digs.

Libero Sarah Kenney led the Crusaders and tied for the match high with 19 digs. Schellenberg added 13 and Cloninger added 12.

At the net, Coreen Norwood posted three block assists with Emily Rose adding a pair. 

The Crusaders close out the weekend trip with a match at Lees-McRae Saturday at 2:00.
