Box Score

The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team scored two second half goals six minutes apart as the Crusaders women's soccer team earned its sixth-straight victory with a 2-0 shutout over Mount Olive this afternoon at Alumni Field. Belmont Abbey extends its winning streak to six-five by shutout-as it improves to 8-5-2 overall and 7-2-0 in Conference Carolinas, while the Trojans fall to 5-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in league play.

Junior forward Meghan Philp netted her tenth goal of the year as he now has three in the last two matches. Maggie Moore iced the victory six minutes after Philp's marker to net her second goal in the last three matches. Senior goalkeeper Hannah Kohls recorded her seventh shutout of the year and the fifth in the past six matches.

After a scoreless first half in which the Crusaders outshot the Trojans 7-4, Philp gave the Crusaders the only goal they would need in the 56th minute. Theresa Mateo sailed a corner kick to the far post, where Philp jumped over everyone and headed home the winner just inside the left post.

Six minutes later Moore added the insurance goal as Cierra Skyers beat a defender down the left sideline and sent a low cross across the face of goal to the far post, where Moore, unmarked, easily tapped in her second goal of the season.

Kohls made two saves, both from distance, to earn the win. Belmont Abbey outshot Mount Olive 13-5 and attempted ten corner kicks to just one for the Trojans.
