Belmont Abbey senior guard Tyshawn Good led six Crusaders in double figures with 33 points, but Mount Olive had seven players reach double figures as the Trojans outlasted a late Abbey charge to post a 107-101 win this evening at the Wheeler Center. Mount Olive moves to 13-10 overall and 10-7 in league play, while the Abbey has its six game winning streak snapped as it drops to 18-7 overall and 11-6 in Conference Carolinas.

The two teams battled to a near stalemate in the first half, as the Trojans led 47-46 at the break. Mount Olive bolted out to a 20-9 lead, and moved it to 22-12 with 12:55 to go, before the Abbey made its charge. The Crusaders responded with an 18-7 run to grab their first lead at 30-29 with 7:56 to play. From there, the two teams traded the lead back and forth, before a Mount Olive run salted the lead for good.

With the Abbey leading 38-36 with 5:23 left, Mount Olive closed on an 11-8 run to take a one-point lead at the half. Belmont Abbey did not trail by any more than four points, and it scored the last four of the period on a Darryl Durham layup and a Jay Council dunk with 33 seconds left to close the scoring.

The Trojans led the entire second half but had to hold on late as the Crusaders mustered one final surge. Mount Olive led 103-93 with 22 seconds left, but the Abbey cut it all the way down to four.

A Terrone Sheffey three-pointer with 16 seconds left closed it to seven, and after two Darrell Patterson free throws moved it back to nine, Sheffey again connected from long distance, this one with seven seconds to go to cut the lead to six.

Mount Olive threw away the inbounds pass, and Good turned it into a four point deficit with the last of his 33 points. After a Mount Olive timeout, Sheffey missed a three pointer with two seconds left. Patterson grabbed the rebound and was fouled with .04 on the clock. He sank both free throws to end the game.

Good, the NCAA Division II leader in scoring, netted 33 on 14-23 shooting. He also had two assists. Sheffey added 17, while Chris Davis contributed 16. Council finished with 11, and Justin Kuhlman and Durham both netted ten as the Abbey shot 57.6 percent from the floor.

Patterson led the Trojans with 20 points, while Mahamed Ibrahim and Kendall Hargrove both scored 17. Dontrell Brite finished with 13. Deshaune Green and Ewon Wright both netted 11. Mount Olive shot 55 percent from the field.

Good's 33 points moved him into fifth on the school's all-time scoring list. He now has 1,832 career points.
