The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team closed out the
Anderson University Invitational with a 1-1 record, defeating
Montreat 3-0 and losing to Tusculum by a 3-0 score. The Crusaders
are now 7-2 on the year. After opening the season with an eight
match road trip, the Abbey begins a three-match homestand starting
Tuesday night against Claflin at 7:00 p.m.
In the win over Montreat, which came by scores of 25-19, 25-16
and 25-15, the offense hit .333 behind the play of Kay
Schellenberg, who handed out 37 assists. Hannah Schellenberg led
the way with ten kills, while Angela Jubb added nine. Tori Jensen
posted eight and Caitlin Hankins totaled seven. The Crusaders
recorded seven service aces and the defense registered 33 digs.
Earlier in the day against Tusculum, the Abbey lost by scores of
22-25, 8-25 and 22-25 as the Crusaders recorded a .194 attack.
Lydia Schellenberg nearly missed a double double as she posted nine
kills and 11 digs. Jubb paced the offense with ten kills, while
Hannah Schellenberg posted eight. Hankins finished with six kills
and four block solos. Kay Schellenberg logged 32 assists.
