Box Score 2 The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team moved its record to
6-1-the best start in school history-after claiming a pair of
3-0wins in the opening round of the Anderson University
Invitational. The Crusaders defeated Montevallo by scores of 25-20,
25-15 and 25-20 and the hosts, Anderson, by scores of 25-16, 25-20
and 25-11. The Abbey will close out the tournament with a pair of
matches tomorrow.
In the win over Montevallo the Abbey amassed a team hitting
percentage of .380 as Hannah and Lydia Schellenberg both led the
way with 12 kills. Hannah Schellenberg hit .435 for the match and
Lydia totaled a .600 attack to go along with 12 digs. Caitlin
Hankins continued her strong play with eight kills and a .500
attack for the match. Kay Schellenberg handed out 34 assists and
logged five service aces. Defensively the Crusaders controlled the
net with eight total blocks.
In the finale against Anderson the Crusaders hit a blistering
.417 as Lydia Schellenberg knocked down 13 kills with a .407
hitting percentage. Hankins and Angela Jubb both hit .500 as Jubb
recorded nine kills and Hankins knocked down eight. Kay
Schellenberg handed out 34 assists. Julianne Pisano led all players
with 14 digs from her libero position.
