Women's Volleyball Drops First Match Of Season With 3-0 Loss At #20 Wingate

The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season tonight, dropping a 3-0 decision at the 20th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs in Cuddy Arena. Set scores were 8-25, 18-25 and 17-25. Wingate remains unbeaten at 4-0, while the Crusaders fall to 4-1.

Abbey junior Lydia Schellenberg led the Crusader offense with eight kills and a match-high 15 digs. Angela Jubb added seven and 13 digs while Hannah Schellenberg posted six and tied with her second oldest sister with 15 digs. Caitlin Hankins continued her stellar play, as she knocked down four kills on 13 attacks with no errors. In five matches, she is hitting .546 and only has one error. Kay Schellenberg handed out 25 assists and logged 14 digs. Belmont Abbey registered a .044 attack (28 kills, 22 errors on 135 total attacks) for the match.

Wingate hit .277 as Grace Kauser led the Bulldogs with nine kills on 19 attacks with no errors (.474). Anna Hilton and Cory McGowan both chipped in with seven apiece. Kauser added three service aces.
