Belmont Abbey freshman Hannah Schellenberg posted a double
double with match highs in kills (14) and digs (13) as the
Crusaders women's volleyball team won its fourth-straight match
with a 3-0 sweep of the visiting North Greenville Crusaders this
evening at the Wheeler Center. Set scores were 25-18, 25-13 and
25-18. The Abbey, winners of seven of its last eight, improve to
13-3 overall and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas, while North
Greenville drops to 7-10 overall and 1-4 in league play.
The three Schellenberg sisters paced an Abbey offense that
recorded a .314 hitting percentage as Hannah Schellenberg hit .583,
posting 14 kills with no errors on 24 total attacks. Middle sister
Lydia Schellenberg added 13 kills with just two errors on 23 total
attacks (.478), while eldest sister Kay Schellenberg handed out 36
assists to go along with a .600 hitting percentage, knocking down
three kills on five attacks with no errors.
Defensively, the Abbey outdug North Greenville by a 51-37 count
as Hannah Schellenberg led all players with 13. She also had a
block assist. Kay Schellenberg, Julianne Pisano and Angela Jubb
each added nine. Tori Jensen recorded three total blocks,
registering two block solos and one assisted.
North Greenville hit just .069 as Rebekah Mayes led the
Crusaders with eight kills and ten digs.
