After an evenly played ten minutes, Columbus State jumped ahead at the 13:58 mark as Kayla Brown served a low cross to the center of the box where Stephanie Lowery tapped in the ball from the six yard box for a 1-0 Cougars lead.
Belmont Abbey had its best scoring chance shortly thereafter, as Cassidy Coutinho's volley from the right corner of the penalty area, from about 25 yards out, squirmed just wide of the far post.
The match stayed 1-0 until the 51:51 mark when the lead grew to 2-0 as Andi Lee blasted home a shot from the left corner of the 18 yard box to close the scoring.
Columbus State outshot the Abbey 12-8 and held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Both goalkeepers made four saves.
