Box Score

Belmont Abbey freshman forward Meghan Philp scored twice, and Silvia Vazquez added the other as the Crusaders women's soccer team went on the road and earned a 3-0 win at Limestone this afternoon. The Crusaders extend their winning streak to three as they improve to 3-3-0 overall and 2-0-0 in Conference Carolinas, while Limestone falls to 3-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in Conference Carolinas.

The Crusaders controlled the entire match, outshooting Limestone 21-6, including 9-4 in the first half as the Abbey seized control of the game shortly before intermission. Philp put the Abbey ahead 1-0 at the 34:31 mark, knocking home a rebound off of a deflected shot for her second goal of the year.

Six minutes later, Vazquez made it 2-0, as her 30 yard blast beat Tori Waddell for her first goal of the year, to close the scoring for the first half.

Philp struck again in the 61st minute, as she raced down the middle of the field and launched a shot from 20 yards to extend the advantage to 3-0, which was the final. Philp and fellow freshman Cassidy Coutinho have combined to score seven of the Abbey's nine goals this season.

Both teams attempted four corner kicks and the Abbey was whistled for nine fouls to just five for Limestone. Waddell made 11 saves in the net, while Hannah Kohls stopped three shots.
