Box Score

The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team scored three times in the second half as the Crusaders moved their record to 3-1 and 1-0 in Conference Carolinas with a 3-1 win at Barton this evening. The Bulldogs drop to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in Conference Carolinas.

After a scoreless first half in which the Crusaders outshot Barton 9-3, Conor Wells gave the Abbey the lead in the 57th minute as Ty Haddock's corner kick sailed to the head of Conor Wells, whose headed redirection just tucked inside the far post for the 1-0 Abbey lead.

Three minutes later the edge grew to 2-0 when Timmi Borges Da Silva's pass from the goal line found a streaking Breck Collins, who buried the winner for his first career goal.

17 minutes later, senior Zack Wertis made it 3-0 when Eric Amaya and Tarik Amon were credited with assists on Wertis's chip shot that sailed underneath the crossbar for his first goal of the year.

Less than a minute later Dante De Luca scored the only Barton goal on a spot kick from the penalty mark after an Abbey foul inside the box.

The Crusaders held an 18-10 edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
