The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team earned its first win of the
season as it won all three doubles matches and just two singles
matches to dispatch North Greenville by a 5-4 score this afternoon
at Greer Tennis Club. The Abbey moves to 1-8, while North
Greenville drops to 3-5.
Belmont Abbey won just two singles matches but earned the team
win as it swept all three doubles matches. Alex Gradenwitz
and Conner McMann recorded an easy 8-2 win at number one, while Tim
Tanko and Patrick Noelke gutted out a 9-8 win at number two.
Gabriel Trombini and Idris Moya battled to an 8-5 win at number
three.
In the singles competition only McMann and Gradenwitz were
victorious, as McMann earned a 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 win at number one, and
Gradenwitz posted a 7-5, 6-1 win at number two. Moya nearly earned
a win at number six, as he won the first set 6-2, but fell 6-7,
9-11 in the third.
