Women's Volleyball Sweeps Lees-McRae, 3-0 For First Win Over Lady Bobcats Since 1995

Belmont Abbey freshman Hannah Schellenberg led all players with 12 kills as the Crusaders women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to six with a 3-0 sweep at Lees-McRae this evening at Williams Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-17, 26-24 and 25-15. The victory ups the Abbey's record to 15-3 overall and 7-1 in Conference Carolinas, while Lees-McRae drops to 7-9 overall and 4-4 in league play.

The win snaps a 26-match losing streak to Lees-McRae, as the last Abbey win over the Lady Bobcats came in the fourth match of the 1995 season.

Schellenberg was the only player to reach double figures in kills as she totaled 12 on 26 attacks with just four errors (.308). Angela Jubb added nine. Schelleberg added 11 digs to record her third double double in as many matches. Kay Schellenberg posted 31 assists and five kills. Lydia Schellenberg finished with four kills but tied for the match high with 15 digs. The Abbey outdug Lees-McRae 48-42. Kay Schellenberg and Caitlin Hankins registered three block assists.
