Box Score

Belmont Abbey midfielder Conor Wells scored the only goal of the match in the 65th minute and freshman goalkeeper Philip Bru posted his third-consecutive shutout as the Crusaders men's soccer team earned a key 1-0 road win at King College this afternoon. The Abbey, ranked ninth regionally, moves to 6-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in Conference Carolinas, while King remains winless at 0-5-0 overall and 0-1-0 in league play.

Wells's tally was his fourth, tying him for the team lead with Jose Penaloza as the duo combined to score the only goal of the match at the 64:36 mark. Penaloza fed a streaking Wells just inside the box, where Wells ran it down on the run and beat Joshua Feener for the goal.

Bru, who has started the past three matches in goal, kept his shutout streak alive as he made three saves. The Crusaders have not allowed a goal in conference play in nearly a month.

Belmont Abbey outshot the Tornado 16-8, including 10-6 in the second half.
