Belmont Abbey freshman Hannah Schellenberg posted a match-high
16 kills to lead an Abbey offense that hit .298 as the Crusaders
women's volleyball team earned its 21st victory with a 3-0 win over
the visiting Mount Olive Trojans this evening at the Wheeler
Center. Set scores were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-13. The win moves the
Abbey's record to 21-4 overall and 12-2 in Conference Carolinas,
while Mount Olive drops to 8-18 overall and 4-10 in Conference
Carolinas.
Schellenberg hit .464 as she posted 16 kills on 28 attacks with
just three errors. Freshman Catilin Hankins added nine as she hit
.467. Senior Kay Schellenberg handed out 30 assists and posted a
pair of service aces.
Defensively, the Abbey won the digs count 34-30 as Lydia
Schellenberg totaled nine, which led all players. Senior Remick
Tiller posted eight and Hannah Schellenberg recorded seven.
At the net, the Crusaders posted seven total blocks as senior
Angela Jubb posted five total blocks, including four assisted. Kay
Schellenberg had three assisted blocks.
Mount Olive was led by Carly White's ten kills as the Trojans
amassed a .000 total attack.
