Belmont Abbey junior Lydia Schellenberg hit .476, as her 11
kills tied her for the match high with younger sister Hannah
Schellenberg to lead the Crusaders women's volleyball team past
Pfeiffer by a 3-0 score tonight in Misenheimer. Set scores were
25-7, 26-24 and 25-17. The win extends the Crusaders winning streak
to nine as they improve to 18-3 overall and 10-1 in Conference
Carolinas, while Pfeiffer drops to 4-14 overall and 3-7 in
Conference Carolinas.
The 18 wins ties the school record for most in a season, which
was set by the last two Crusader teams. The 10 Conference Carolinas
wins are one shy of tying the school record set two seasons
ago.
Lydia Schellenberg posted 11 kills on 21 attacks with just one
error, and Hannah Schellenberg knocked down 11 kills on 24 attacks
with five errors. She also led the Abbey with 12 digs for a double
double. Caitlin Hankins added eight kills on 14 attacks with one
error (.500) to go along with a block solo. Kay Schellenberg handed
out 32 assists and logged a service ace. She added three kills on
nine attacks as the Crusaders, which are third nationally in
hitting percentage, posted a .276 attack.
The defense recorded 41 digs and four total blocks as libero
Julianne Pisano and Angela Jubb both totaled seven digs. Remick
Tiller added three. Jubb controlled the net with three block
assists while Tori Jensen added a pair.
