The Belmont Abbey volleyball team nearly pulled off a two set comeback to force a deciding fifth set, but the Limestone Saints won two-straight points to seal the match in four sets to claim a 3-1 Conference Carolinas win this evening. Set scores were 23-25, 21-25, 29-27 and 30-32. Limestone moves to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey slips to 8-6, 4-2.

The Crusaders dropped the first two sets before rallying in the third to claim a 29-27 win. The Abbey was down 19-16 before fighting back to claim a 24-23 edge on a Lydia Schellenberg knockdown. The teams traded points until a 27-27 tie. From there a Limestone service error and a Molly Gwaltney kill extended the match.

The fourth set was a role reversal from the third, as Limestone rallied back from a 20-16 deficit to eventually tie the set at 23. Again both teams traded points until the 30-30 point, when a Lady Saints kill and an Abbey attack error ended the match.

Angela Jubb led all players with 17 kills, as she was one of three Crusaders to reach double figures. Schellenberg and Stefanie Holler both added 12 as the Crusaders hit .112 for the match.

Holli Dawson and Jordan Preville both led the Lady Saints with 14 kills apiece, while Danielle Enrico added 11.

Defensively, both teams registered 74 digs as Schellenberg led the Crusaders with 18. Jubb added 16, Heather Wagner posted 13 and Remick Tiller chipped in with ten.
