The Belmont Abbey volleyball team opened the 2011 Francis Marion Invitational with a pair of losses, falling to Carson-Newman 3-0 and to the host Patriots by a 3-1 count. Set scores in the Carson-Newman match were 23-25, 14-25, 24-26. Scores for the Francis Marion match were 17-25, 24-26, 25-22, 14-25. The Abbey is now 0-2 on the season.

The Crusaders close out the two-day affair with a pair of matches on Saturday. The Abbey will face Newberry at 11:00 a.m. and UNC Pembroke at 7:00 p.m.
