Men's Soccer Loses At Limestone, 7-0

The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team fell at Limestone by a 7-0 score this afternoon. The Saints improve to 4-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey drops to 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Conference Carolinas.

Limestone jumped ahead 1-0 quickly on a penalty kick by Larry Mahon just 2:35 into the match. It was the first of five first half goals by the Saints. The advantage increased to 2-0 at exactly 36:00 left in the first half. Mahon scored his second goal of the contest on a free kick in the 20th minute to increase the Saints lead to 3-0. One minute later Jorge MacKenna scored off of a deflection for a 4-0 Limestone advantage. Hodaka Yonezawa capped the Saints first half scoring in the 35th minute with an unassisted goal for a 5-0 lead.

Yonezawa added another goal in the 70th minute and Marvin Hudson scored the final goal of the contest with seven minutes left to cap the scoring. The Crusaders were outshot 21-12, but were able to get seven of their shots on goal.

HB Lockwood and Kyle Karagitz combined for six saves for Limestone. Louis Liberatore played the first half in goal for the Crusaders and made three saves. Jordan Junot played the first 23:27 of the second half with Sergio Ramirez finishing out the remaining 21:33.
