The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team fell to the nationally seventh-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Bears by a 4-1 score this evening in Hickory. L-R moves to 3-1, while the Abbey drops to 1-3.

Lenoir-Rhyne held the advantage in shots (19-7) and corner kicks (7-1) as it opened the scoring in the 18th minute on a 20-yard blast by Carley Griffin. Four minutes later, the Bears lead grew to 2-0 on a goal by Catherine Hauck.

Shortly after the halftime intermission, sophomore forward Ananda Gebreyesus cut the lead in half as she finished a cross from Alana Ryczek for her first goal of the year.

The Bears wasted no time getting the lead back to two, as Laura Donovan headed home a corner kick from Mariel Mena just over three minutes after Gebreyesus's goal.

L-R closed the scoring in the 61st minute as Kaelia Frazier connected on a strike from 25 yards out.
