Women's Soccer Ties Lees-McRae 0-0 In Conference Carolinas Final, But Lees-McRae Claims Title With 4-2 Penalty Kick Win

The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team tied the number-one seed Lees-McRae Bobcats 0-0, but the homestanding Bobcats earned the Conference Carolinas title with a 4-2 penalty kick win. Lees-McRae earns the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as it improves to 13-4-3, while the Abbey ends its season with a record of 12-7-2. Both of the Abbey's ties came in the Conference Tournament, both of them scoreless.

Lees-McRae held a 13-8 advantage in shots and both teams attempted four corner kicks, but neither team scored, forcing the second penalty kick shootout of the tournament for both teams. The Abbey beat Queens in a shootout in the quarterfinal, and Lees-McRae advanced to the final after a penalty kick win over Limestone in the semifinal rond.
