Volleyball Rallies, But Lees-McRae Earns 3-1 Win

The Belmont Abbey volleyball team staved off a 3-0 sweep with a set three win, but the Conference Carolinas-leading Lees-McRae Bobcats had just enough to keep the Crusaders at bay to earn a 3-1 win this evening at the Wheeler Center. Set scores were 23-25, 19-25, 25-18 and 22-25. Lees-McRae moves to 23-8 overall and 17-0 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey drops to 17-14 overall and 9-8 in Conference Carolinas.

Angela Jubb led the Abbey with 11 kills, while Stefanie Holler added ten. Bria James recorded eight and a team-high 13 digs. Kay Schellenberg handed out 34 assists and posted two block assists. The Abbey hit .157 (41 kills, 23 errors on 115 total attacks) for the match.

The Crusaders posted ten total blocks as Victoria Jensen logged five block assists, while Holler finished with four.

Megan Epperson led a Lees-McRae attack with a match-high 12 kills. Megan Mitchell, Jessica Singewald and Lauren Fox all finished with seven. Mitchell handed out 33 assists and posted three service aces. Taylor Clendenin registered six service aces and six service errors. Both teams combined for 28 service errors in the match. The Lady Bobcats hit .173 for the match (45 kills, 23 errors on 127 total attacks).

Both teams recorded 46 digs as Lees-McRae's Sariah Suryadevara led all players with 16. Lydia Schellenberg added 11.
