Belmont Abbey junior Angela Jubb led all players with 16 kills
as the Crusaders volleyball team snapped a five-match losing streak
with a 3-1 win over the visiting Converse College Valkyries this
afternoon at the Wheeler Center. Set scores were 25-16, 18-25, 25-6
and 25-21. The Abbey moves to 9-10 overall and 5-4 in Conference
Carolinas, while Converse slips to 2-14 overall and 1-10 in
Conference Carolinas.
Jubb paced an offense that hit .278 as she was one of three
Crusaders to reach double figures with 16 kills. Bria James added
12 and Stefanie Holler posted ten. Senior setter Molly Gwaltney
handed out a career-best 47 assists.
Defensively, James's 14 digs led all players, while Ginny
Eckstine added 13, a career-high. The Crusaders won the dig battle
68-48.
Converse was led by Jameiha Maxwell's 11 kills, while Val Thoms
added ten. Converse hit .130 for the match.
