The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team scored two goals in the first nine minutes and added two more goals later in the match as the Crusaders women's soccer team earned a 4-1 win at Coker this afternoon in Conference Carolinas action. The win ups the Abbey's ledger to 10-7-0 overall and 9-2-0 in Conference Carolinas, while Coker drops to 1-15-1 overall and 1-9-1 in Conference Carolinas.

Senior midfielder Nicole Voets scored two of the Abbey's four goals, tallying the first and last goals of the match. Her first strike came just 5:17 in as she scored off on a bouncing ball that was rebounded off of defenders.

3:01 later, sophomore forward Ananda Gebreyesus beat Lizz Morris with a high acing shot from the top of the 18 yard box to widen the lead to 2-0.

Coker pulled one back ten minutes later as Sarah Rountree headed home a Cassie Callahan free kick to cut the Abbey lead in half, but the Crusaders answered just three minutes before halftime, as Rebecca Mateo sent a cross that Alexa Hale one-timed past Morris for the goal.

Voets closed the scoring in the 62nd minute as she buried a penalty kick to close the scoring.

The Crusaders outshot Coker 16-2 and registered all four corner kicks in the match.

Morris collected seven saves, while Simone Melvin, usually a forward, played all 90 minutes in the net and made one save.
