Belmont Abbey junior forward Rebecca Mateo has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's soccer Player of the Week during week number one in the 2010 season.

Mateo led the 24th-ranked Crusaders to a 3-0 record to start the season, playing a hand in all three Abbey goals scored. In the season opener at Catawba, she scored the golden goal in the 108th minute. Two days later at Peach Belt member North Georgia, she scored the only goal of the match in the 86th minute. Sunday, she assisted Nicole Voets in the 61st minute for the only goal of the match. In three games, she scored two goals on six shots with one assist.
