The Belmont Abbey volleyball team hit .216 and held Brevard to a .132 attack as the Crusaders moved to 9-4 with a 3-1 win at Brevard this evening. Set scores were 17-25, 25-21, 25-13 and 25-16. The Abbey, winners of four of its last six, moves to 9-4, while the Tornados drop to 2-8.

Brevard took the first set behind a torrid .400 attack, while the Abbey hit just .028, but the Crusaders swept the next three sets as they held the Tornados to a .000 attack in sets two and four.

Sophomore Angela Jubb led the Crusaders with 12 kills, two block assists and one block solo. Bria James narrowly missed a double double with nine kills and a team-high 18 digs to go along with five assists. Kay Schellenberg hit .500, posting seven kills on 14 total attacks with 11 digs and 32 assists. She also registered two block assists. Remick Tiller posted eight kills and eight digs and freshman Lydia Schellenberg posted eight kills.

Kortney Conner led Brevard with 11 kills, the only Tornado player to reach double figures.

The Abbey is back in action Friday night at 7:00 p.m. when it hosts Converse.
