After dropping the first set, the Belmont Abbey volleyball team
won three-straight sets to defeat the visiting Pfeiffer University
Falcons 3-1 this evening at the Wheeler Center. Set scores 20-25,
25-21, 25-21 and 27-25. The Abbey moves to 7-2 overall and evens
its Conference Carolinas mark to 1-1, while Pfeiffer drops to 0-9
overall and 0-3 in Conference Carolinas.
The Abbey hit .139 as sophomore Angela Jubb blasted 14 kills on
28 total attacks with just five errors (.321) with two digs, a
block solo and a block assist. Lydia Schellenberg added a double
double with 11 kills and 13 digs. Older sister Kay Schellenberg
handed out 37 assists to go along with seven kills three service
aces and nine digs. Remick Tiller chipped in with nine kils and
seven digs.
Pfeiffer hit .076 as Kristina Mordini knocked down 13 kills to
go along with five digs. Setter Colleen Wands and libero Kaci
Markham both registered 12 digs. Wands handed out 21 assists.
Jordan O'Bryant posted five digs, five block assists and three
service aces.
The Abbey is back in action Friday night at 7:00 p.m. when it
goes on the road to face Coker.
