Lydia Schellenberg and Bria James both led the Abbey with 11
kills apiece as the Crusaders volleyball team claimed its
third-straight win with a 3-1 defeat of the visiting Limestone
Saints this afternoon at the Wheeler Center. Set scores were 25-20,
25-11, 20-25 and 25-23. The Abbey improves to 15-6 overall and 8-3
in Conference Carolinas, while Limestone drops to 4-14 overall and
2-8 in Conference Carolinas.
Belmont Abbey hit .216 as Schellenberg and James both led the
way with 11 kills apiece. Both players registered double doubles as
James posted 15 digs and Schellenberg tallied 11. Remick Tiller
posted nine kills, 13 digs and five assists, and Angela Jubb
notched seven kills. Kay Schellenberg posted 35 assists, 18 digs
and seven kills.
Defensively, the Crusaders won the dig battle 71-64 as Kay
Schellenberg's 18 kills led all players. Libero Julianne Pisano
posted 11 digs.
Limestone hit .070 offensively as Kassi Boedeker led a pair of
Saints in double figures with 14 kills. Holli Dawson added ten.
Danielle Seibert handed out 33 assists and posted 12 digs.
The Saints were led in digs by Rebecca Kerrison, who finished
with 16. Emmaleigh Halweg and Seibert both finished with 12, and
Boedeker added ten.
