Three different Belmont Abbey players found the back of the net as the Crusaders men's soccer team earned its third-straight win with a 3-1 victory over the visiting King College Tornados this afternoon at Alumni Field. The Abbey, winners of seven of its last eight, moves to 9-5-2, while King drops to 4-11-1.

Belmont Abbey outshot the Tornados 14-7 as Stuart Kirk put the Crusaders on top in the 17th minute. Ross Smith collected the ball in his own third and sent a high pass forward to Kirk, who got behind the defense and beat goalkeeper Justin Morrell into the left corner for the goal.

The lead stayed at 1-0 until the 58th minute on a hustle play by the Abbey. A Crusader sent a long pass that rolled down into the right corner of King's goal line. A Tornado defender tried to shield it to allow the ball to roll out of bounds, but Timmi Borges Da Silva looped around the defender, took possession and sent a pass to Matt Dolan. Dolan one-timed the ball to the center of the box, where Gianluca D'Agata was all alone five yards out, and he one-timed the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead.

Ten minutes later King cut the lead in half as John Simmons sent the third of King's four corner kicks to the center of the box, where Tom Winspear beat his man and headed home the ball into the top left corner of the net for the score.

With 53 seconds left the Crusaders pushed their advantage back to two, as Da Silva found Dolan all alone in front of the box, and his shot was pure to move the lead to 3-1, which was the final.

Along with the shots, the Abbey held the advantage in corner kicks 6-4. Louis Liberatore made two saves, while Morrell collected five.
