The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team dropped its 2009 season opener at King College by a 5-2 score this afternoon. King moves to 2-1 on the year, while the Abbey is 0-1.

King scored the first goal at 33:00 as Jessus Ebanks put the ball in the left-hand corner of the goal to give King the 1-0 advantage. Ten minutes later Andy Kimball would score the first of his two goals off of a Matt Kilgus pass, and the Tornado ended the period with a strong 2-0 lead.

Kimball struck again in the 65th minute on an unassisted goal, to increase the lead to 3-0. However, in the space of five minutes, the momentum swung back into the Crusader's favor. Abbey's Matt Powell scored at 75:52 to put the team on the scoreboard, and Emmanual Yamson's goal two and a half minutes later brought the visitors back to within one.

The Tornados would respond, as Matt Kilgus put the ball in the net in the 81st minute on a long bomb that curled into the upper corner of the goal, and a Tom Winspear goal at 82:24 ended the scoring.
