The Belmont Abbey men's basketball team was eliminated in the semifinal round of the 2009 Conference Carolinas Tournament by the visiting Erskine Flying Fleet by a 69-44 score this evening at the Wheeler Center. Erskine improves its record to 12-18, while the Abbey falls to 20-9, its most wins since the 2002-03 season.

Belmont Abbey shot 29.6 percent (16-54) as junior center Alex Pledger led the way with 14 points on five of nine shooting, to go along with five rebounds and four blocked shots in 25 minutes. Richard Barbee added 13 points on six of 14 shooting, while dishing out two assists and two steals.

Erskine shot 48 percent (24-50) as Brandon Wright led all scorers with 19 points, while Marko Latinovic added 15. Victor Street posted 12 points, and Jay Boulware registered a double double with 11 points and ten rebounds.
