Belmont Abbey sophomore guard Richard Barbee and junior forward
Chad Patus led all scorers with 23 and 20 points, respectively, as
the Crusaders men's basketball team won its final non-conference
game of the season with an 82-65 win at North Greenville this
evening. The Abbey improves to 14-7, while North Greenville falls
to 7-13.
The Abbey, which led by as many as 32 points, shot 53.1 percent
(34-64) from the floor as Barbee totaled 23 points in 23 minutes on
nine of 14 shooting from the field, with four steals, three assists
and two rebounds. Patus added 20 points on eight of ten shooting
from the floor. Junior center Alex Pledger added ten points in 13
minutes, converting five of eight field goal attempts, while
pulling down seven rebounds and collecting two steals. The Abbey
held a 29-27 advantage on the boards and forced 19 turnovers.
North Greenville shot 50 percent (27-54) from the field as Kyler
Vitko led the way with 16 points, while Zach Babbitt added 11.
