Women's Basketball Edged At Coker, 75-72

The Belmont Abbey women's basketball team fell 75-72 at Coker this afternoon in a Conference Carolinas matchup. The Lady Cobras improve to 8-12 overall and 7-8 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey slips to 14-7 overall and 11-4 in Conference Carolinas.

Belmont Abbey led 32-28 at the half but Coker outscored the Lady Crusaders 47-40 in the final 20 minutes behind a 53 percent shooting effort.

The Abbey shot 50.9 percent (28-55) as sophomore forward Shayla Jackson led the way with 22 points on 11-17 shooting from the floor, while Courtney Naquin posted 17 points on six of 12 shooting, to go along with two assists and two steals. Asha Hardaway just missed a double double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Coker shot 46.6 percent (27-58) as Henna Koponen led all scorers with 23 points on 10-17 shooting, while Jessica Hayes added 21 on eight of 14 shooting from the field. She also had five assists and three steals. Lotta Aaltonen posted 10 points and nine rebounds.
