The Belmont Abbey men's basketball team was defeated at Mars Hill by a 97-80 score this afternoon. Mars Hill moves to 3-3, while the Abbey falls to 3-3.

Belmont Abbey shot 45 percent from the field as junior guard Richard Barbee led a trio of Crusaders in double figures with 18 points on six of 11 shooting, to go along with six assists and a pair of steals. Senior forward Chad Patus poured in 14 points, as he converted all 12 of his free throw attempts. He also had six rebounds and five assists. Freshman guard Tyshawn Good posted 12 points on five of eight shooting, with two steals and an assist.

Mars Hill shot 50 percent as Danny Sanders led all scorers with 37 points on 12 of 19 shooting, including eight of 12 from beyond the arc. He also had five rebounds, two blocks and two steals in 28 minutes. Dion Malachi added 16 points and nine rebounds as the Lions won the rebounding battle 37-32.
