Women's Basketball Races Past Coker, 59-48

Belmont Abbey junior Asha Hardaway posted her third double double in four games with 14 points and 13 rebounds, and senior Kelsey Daniel notched a career-best 11 rebounds as the Crusaders women's basketball team handed the Coker Lady Cobras basketball team its sixth-straight loss with a 59-48 loss win this evening at the Wheeler Center. The loss drops the Lady Cobras to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference, while the Abbey improves to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Neither team shot the ball exceptionally well, with the Crusaders shooting 33.3 percent from the field and Coker shooting only 30 percent from the floor. The difference in the game came at the charity stripe, where Coker sent the Crusaders to the line 33 times, converting on 25 of those times.

Hardaway had 14 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Crusaders, while Ashley Giddens had 12 points and six rebounds. Daniel just missed a double-double scoring nine points, while pulling down 11 rebounds, with Shayla Jackson also scored nine points with seven rebounds.

Lotta Aaltonen led the Lady Cobras in scoring for the second straight game, dropping 22 points and grabbing six rebounds. Jasmine Alston and Kiesha Beavers had seven and six points respectively, with four rebounds apiece.

Belmont Abbey will face Shaw University on Saturday, Dec. 5.
